DR. SHUJUNG (MELINDA) HUNG
Dr. Melinda Hung is the CEO of Life River Acupuncture. After becoming a California licensed acupuncturist, Dr. Melinda Hung is specialized in pain relief, women's health, facial acupuncture, digestion, rehab therapy following a stroke, and Parkinson's disease. Her focuses are on painless acupuncture and modern herbal medicine. In her practice of pain management, Dr. Hung and her group work particularly well on chronic pain such as back and neck pain, osteoarthritis/knee pain, and frozen shoulder pain.
Dr. Melinda Hung has been in public health practice, administration, and communication for over 30 years. She has won the TaiwaneseGolden Tripod Award, the best Journalist awarded by a series of research reports on public health administration. After obtaining her doctoral degree in Public and Health Administration in 2005, Dr. Melinda Hung was invited to the University of California at Berkeley as a visiting scholar to further her research in public health. Among the topics she researched, she found the tremendous contribution of acupuncture. Today, she is currently thriving in services to share acupuncture with everyone.
DR. KUO-SEN (SAM) TSENG
After Dr. Sam Tseng obtained his doctoral degree, he passed the License Exam of the California Acupuncture Board and became a Licensed California Acupuncturist. He focuses on sports injuries, various pain management, and especially instant pain relief, such as neck pain, back pain, knee pain, osteoarthritis pain and Sciatica. He also makes efforts in modernizing the application of herbal medicine and research painless acupuncture applications. He has been practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Roseville Area in 2019.
Dr. Tseng started to learn the skill of acupuncture to cure himself and the team members in need of his treatment in high-level Judo and Martial Arts in his early twenties. In addition to pain managment acupuncture, Dr. Tseng expanded his focus to cosmetic acupuncture, and cranial pressure relase therapy (a unique treatment developed by Dr. Tseng to help relieving sleep disorders).

I have lived in Granite Bay and seen many Docter's. I never went acupuncture
Because I didn't believe in it. My pain got so Severe I have nowhere to turn. I was desperate! I decided to see Dr. Hung. I thought it was a waste of money and time.
The next day I was at disbelieve! It was surreal!!!
My pain was gone !! With only one visit. No medication or any type of drugs.
I'm speechless! I decided to bring my 85 year old mother... she too has been living with pain....

I had some serious muscle tightness from sports, exercising, injuries and stress. My hips, ankles, lower back, neck, shoulders and jaw were always extremely tight and painful. I felt like an old man and I'm barely 30! Also my sleep schedule was very out of wack. My coworker was telling me all of the benefits her daughter was having from coming here so I decided to give it a shot. And I'm glad I did! Now my body finally goes to bed early without any other medication or supplements. My body has slowly been loosening up and relaxing. My posture, my mood and my energy has significantly improved. When I finish an appointment, I feel so relaxed and ready for bed. ShuJung (the acupuncturist) is extremely kind and warm and you never feel rushed like at a doctor's visit. Dr. Sam and Dr. Melinda are as good as it gets. I can not recommend them enough. I called out of desperation as I lived with migraines and upper back pain. I had tried everything before acupuncture. I went to a chiropractor for over a year twice a week and did massage on a regular basis. The only relief I had was the day of but not long term. Dr. Sam and Dr. Melinda brought me long term relief. The second I met them I knew I was in good care. They love and believe in what they do. They care about their patients. The care I received went above and beyond. Dr. Sam would extend his day if it meant fitting me in and I was experiencing an intense migraine. If you're looking for an answer to your pain, this is the facility. I've moved out of the state and I've yet to find any facility to care for me the way they took care of me. Im grateful.

I have been seeing Dr Hung and Dr Tseng for over 4 months and the pain I had from my 15cm fibroid subsided completely.
At the same time, I was also having issues standing up after sitting. The pain shot up from my tailbone and it was getting more frequent. I saw a chiropractor for 4 sessions but the adjustments were not helpful. Dr Hung treated me once and the pain relief was immediate. Through regular visits, I rarely have issues with getting up from a chair after prolong sitting.
Both doctors care about their patients very much and have amazing knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and experience. I can't thank them enough and I appreciate their encouragement in allowing my body to heal with their technique and approach.

From the moment you walk into their front office until you leave after your treatment you know you are in good hands. The office is very tranquil, both doctors are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to your overall health and wellness. Helping you get better sleep, the best foods to put into your body, matching foods to help with what ails you, dealing with chronic pain and chronic sleep issues. My favorite that I have never experienced before is the acupuncture facial. I call this the sleeping beauty facial! it puts you in such a relaxed state that you will fall asleep and the treatment helps to stop the aging process while working on making you look younger!

I've been seeing Dr. Hung and Dr. Tseng for 3 months due to hair loss and hoping acupuncture can stimulate hair regrowth by improving circulation to the scalp.
After a couple of sessions, I noticed that acupuncture had the benefit of improving my body system; not just stimulating my hair growth. I now sleep well at night and do not get tired easily. I also notice that my hair doesn't fall easily and begin to grow back.
I can't say enough good things about them. They are professional, patient, and their treatment has led to many positive outcomes. I trust Dr. Hung and Dr. Tseng, I will continue to see them.

I would like to express my gratitude for the excellent care I have been receiving from Dr. Hung at Life River Acupuncture. When my rheumatoid and osteoarthritis flared up simultaneously, the swelling and pain in my feet and hands was so bad that it kept me house bound. My doctor had prescribed medication, but the downside was it would take several weeks to take effect. Ibuprofen and Tylenol only provided partial relief. I really needed more prompt relief, so I reached out to Life River Acupuncture. After only a few treatments by Dr. Hung, my feet were pain free and the swelling was gone, and I was able to walk normally again. Life River Acupuncture was the answer for me. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that created a number of different back issues. I’ve done many other treatments before I tried out acupuncture. I was skeptical going into it but now I fully believe in acupuncture. My pain is not completely gone, I wasn’t expecting it to be, but my pain management had completely changed. I am still sorely but it’s not nearly as bad. Before acupuncture my pain was always present and uncomfortable. Now the pain I get is more centralized to the exact spot of the injury. Best decision ever. After being in an accident in 2021 dealt with back pain. I was reluctant to see an acupuncturist, however pain was consistent and doctors continued to prescribe pills and nothing would relieve the pain and discomfort. I have been using acupuncture for about 10 years, and have been through at least 7 providers. My issues are very complex with multiple bad disks and two spine deformities. Finding a good acupuncturist who has the knowledge, ability and patience to help with my issues has been a challenge. I found Life River acupuncture and I am being treated by Sam. Sam's approach is extremely unique that I have not experienced any other place. I was referred to Dr Tseng and Dr Hung by a good friend of mine. I suffer from a rare type of migraines that cause stroke like symptoms. I get left sided paralysis with these migraines. Within just a few visits with Dr Tseng and Dr Hung I was able to get most of my mobility back. They are so sweet and kind and generally care about their patients. I have been going to Life River Acupuncture for a couple of months for problems with vertigo. I have tried massage therapy, which was very nice, but didn't help very much. I have been doing Accupucture on and off for over 35 years. I was lucky in finding Life River Accupucture about three months ago. After sustaining injury to my L4-L5 lower back disc I was left with a disturbing condition known as drop foot. I was told to expect long recovery and did not see the improvement in my mobility occurring fast enough from just the physical therapy my HMO prescribed. My left neck and shoulder were sore.
I don't know if it's because from my exercise. It was painful for almost a month.
I went to Liferiver acupuncture through a friend's recommendation. The doctor explained some reasons to me very patiently. He also did some partial relief massages. Later, Doctor Hung did acupuncture for me. I don't remember how many needles she took. I started to feel warm and very comfortable. I feel less pain in my shoulder since last week. Decided to go back next week.

This place is truly amazing! I play sports competitively which caused my to strain my neck muscles. Even though I went to many hospitals, there weren’t any results. Absolutely gorgeous. I developed acute right hip joint and lowèr back pain on Labor Day, and was not able to move at all. Called Life River Acupuncture office the second day, Dr. Tseng and Dr. Hung were very considerate and set aside the lunchtime to treat my pain. With one treatment, my sharp hip joint pain went away. With the two treatments in a week, I felt normal although still felt something if big dance movement using my right hip. After the 3rd treatment in the second week I resumed going to my dance class.

I have been coming to this place for about two months for problems that i have not been able to resolve through physical therapy. Dr Hung and Dr Tseng have been amazing at healing not only the initial problem I came for (Tennis Elbow) but, they are so amazing i have came on my own to have them fix other issues i have too (migraine etc). Dr Sam and Dr Melinda were the first to actually treat my painful gout. I have seen three different doctors in the past but all they do is prescribe meds with awful side effects. After seeing Dr Sam and Dr Melinda I was fully functional in two days. Normally it takes 7 to 10 days to feel better. Thank you Life River Acupuncture!!

AMAZING! My left knee gave me troubles for years after exercises or claiming stairs. I have tried PT in different places and at home but no luck. Dr Huang gave an acupuncture treatment while I was waiting for my wife in early May. I did not feel pain the following week and since after my Pickleball game. A few weeks later, we visited an relative who lives on three stores home. Normally, I will feel the discomfort and pain the second day because going up and down stairs. but this time, we lived there for three days and I had no pain at all. Amazing place - if you’re hungry when you enter they will make sure to give you a cookie and ginger lemon tea. You’ll have a choice of lying or sitting (in a very comfy recliner). Electrical stimulation was used on some of me knee needles. My wife, Barb, and I really do recommend this business. Acupuncture has really helped us both with different issues.

I met Dr. Hung and Dr. Tseng a couple of months ago at their Granite Bay office a couple of months ago. I am very impressed by their knowledge and experience in modern and traditional East medical therapy. They are very kind and friendly professionals with a great positive aura around. I got inestimable treatment from these two doctors of my sleep disorder and back pains, based on East medicine. I am very thankful to them and I would recommend patients, who particularly want to decrease chemically produced medications to see Dr. Hung and/or Dr. Tseng.

Great service and remarkable curative effects. It is highly recommended. I am lucky to meet Dr Rong and Dr Zheng, it have been solved that I can not continue to sleep when I awoke up in the middle of the night after acupuncture 4 times. It also relieved my fatigue and tense caused by long-term work pressure. These two doctor are very professional in Chinese medicine. They are also very good at children’s height growth, pain management, irregular menstruation. If you have some diseases cannot be solved by medical treatment. I had migraine and sleep disorders for years. I got bad headache if I didn’t sleep well. I didn’t sleep well if I got headache. It is such a bad circle! Especially this year, I had so many troubles in my life to deal with, that caused me to have constantly migraine, pain and headache. I was full of despair. Luckily I met Dr. Hung and Dr. Tseng. They are amazing! They saved my life.
On Halloween 2021, I felt all my muscles on my back were stiff, pain. I asked Dr. Hung to take me in the next day. They did Acupuncture first then Dr Tseng came in, using his elbow to press different points on my back. Oh, my Lord. That was so good. My whole back was loose after half an hour. Dr. Hung also gave me Chinese herbal medicine to adjust my sleep and my body system.
The third visit, I still felt pain on my head. They gave me acupuncture, massage. After that Dr Tseng used electrical cupping to move around my head few times. The pain on my head disappeared. MIRACLE! I was so happy. I started smiling from my heart which I haven't had that feeling for many months.
The fourth visit, I still felt some pain on my back, after Acupuncture, Dr. Tseng gave me scratch on my back and neck. My pain almost completely disappeared after four times. They are my SAVERS.

My son is always on the smaller side and usually grows 2 inches a year. We have seen Endocrinology specialist and it is not growth hormones deficiency, but still not growing much. He starts seeing Dr. Tseng and Dr. Hung from late August 2021, as of today, he has grown 1.5 inches! I have to buy him new shoes ( feet are 2 sizes bigger), clothes and more food ( he eats double than before). Hope this growth trend will continue.Thank you Dr. Tseng and Dr. Hung for your work.
